Dictionary of Literary Biography
The digital version of the standard literary resource (comprised of three series) for biographical and critical material on the lives, works and careers of the world's most influential literary figures from all eras and genres. This is an invaluable source for tracing the work and reputation of an author.
Gale Virtual Reference Library
This is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. Because each library system creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different library systems. Titles of especial note in YPL's eBook colection are Business Plans Handbook and Contemporary Authors.
Literary Index
Gale's Literary Index provides quick and easy access to author and title listings from over 130 premium literature resources. The referenced products themselves contain complete biographies on authors and critical essays on their writings.
Literature Criticism Online
This database presents the complete literary commentary from two major critical reference series--Contemporary Literary Criticism (CLC) and Twentieth Century Literary Criticism (TCLC). CLC covers current, active authors or those who died after 1999, while TCLC covers authors 1901--1999.Maloney's Antiques & Collectibles Resource Directory
This database provides a "who's who guide to the world of antiques & collectibles." It is "an easily searchable online clearinghouse not only about antiques and collectibles, but also art, gems & jewelry, dinnerware/flatware/crystal matching services, contemporary collectibles and, basically, resources for any type of personal property including antique cars, machinery & equipment, and even vintage airplanes!" A wonderful reading resource for kids, children's librarians and school media specialists, it has information on over 85,000 fiction and nonfiction titles for kids in the K-8 age range. Results link directly to the library's catalog.
NoveList Plus
Helping people find good things to read, this database covers over 161,000 fiction and over 60,000 nonfiction titles for all ages. In addition to finding books by author, title or subject heading you can also search by plots and for read-alikes and other books in series. The big bonus: it's linked to the library's catalog.
Oxford Reference Online
This database brings together 100 Oxford language and subject dictionaries and reference works - containing well over 60,000 pages - into a single cross-searchable resource.
Salem Literature
Provides online access to several Salem Press literary resources in the Library's print collection, including Critical Surveys of Long Fiction, Magill's Literary Annuals, and Masterplots.

Part of the Daily Life Online database, this multicultural resource includes thousands of classic folk tales and other information to support curriculum subjects in history, religion and language. Covers holidays, festivals, language, stories, fairy tales, proverbs, foodways, and folk remedies.
