March 2013 Programs at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County

MAHONING COUNTY (February 15, 2013/For Immediate Release) – Mark your calendars and plan on attending these programs at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) in March. It’s time for the wearin’o’the green – don’t miss the week-long St. Patrick’s celebration at Kravitz Delicatessen, located in the Poland Library.

It’s St. Patrick’s Day for a full week at the Kravitz Delicatessen in the Poland Library (and their Belmont Ave., Liberty, location, as well).  Enjoy their specials all week long. And be sure to stop in on Saturday, March 16, for special Library story times, a leprechaun story time in the Friends of PLYMC Bookstore, and fun activities at the Kravitz Deli.

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  Lunch with a Leprechaun.  Bring your cameras to take pictures taken with the leprechaun, meet the leprechaun, Irish Music and Dancing, learn leprechaun folklore, Corned Beef Sandwiches,  authentic Irish Brunch of corned beef and cabbage,  Irish fried potatoes, Old Dublin Chicken Fingers and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Macaroni and Cheese, Cabbage Slaw and  Bailey’s Cheese Cake.  $11.99 adults; $6.99 children under 12.

Tales to Tails - Sign up to read to a registered therapy dog, which helps develop reading skills, promotes confidence, and encourages a love of reading. TEEN PROGRAMS

Second Duct Tape Fundraiser - Duct Tape fundraiser put on by the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) in memory of Brandy Stevens-Rosine. Dean Stevens, Brandy’s cousin, has graciously agreed to be duct-taped to the wall of the Boardman Library on March 13 for this fundraising event. Donors can purchase strips of duct tape to contribute to the fun event! The cost of duct tape is an arm’s length for $4 or 3 arm’s lengths for $10. General donations will also be accepted. Teens will be accepting donation on March 2 and 9 at the Boardman Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on March 6 from 6 - 7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided the evening of the event. Proceeds will benefit a Teen Collection of Library materials at the Boardman Library in memory of Brandy Stevens-Rosine. For more information, please contact the Development Office at 330-740-6086.

FREE TAX PREPARATION
Free Tax Preparation and Electronic Filing for Qualifying Individuals -The Library will again provide locations for free tax preparation and electronic filing for seniors and those (at any age) with low to moderate income. The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify.

2012 Earned Income and Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) must each be less than:
• $45,060 ($50,270 married filing jointly) with three (3) or more qualifying children
• $41,952 ($47,162 married filing jointly) with two (2) qualifying children
• $36,920 ($42,130 married filing jointly) with one (1) qualifying child
• $13,980 ($19,190 married filing jointly) with no (0) qualifying children

WHAT TO BRING:

Proof of identification – Picture ID
- Social Security Cards for you, your spouse and dependents or a Social Security Number verification letter issued by the Social Security Administration or
- Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) assignment letter for you, your spouse and dependents
- Proof of foreign status, if applying for an ITIN
- Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return
- Wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc from all employers
- Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)
- A copy of last year’s federal and state returns if available
- Proof of bank account routing numbers and account numbers for Direct Deposit, such as a blank check
- Total paid for daycare provider and the daycare provider’s tax identifying number (the provider’s Social Security Number or the provider’s business Employer Identification Number) if appropriate
- To file taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
