9/11 AUTHOR PRESENTATION FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

"Thunder Dog" author Michael Hingson to Visit - Hear Michael Hingson, author of "Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Dog, and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero," describe his incredible escape from the 78th floor of the World Trade Center on September 11. An inspiring story of courage and trust for the entire family.

POP-UP LIBRARY

The PLYMC Pop-Up Library is a new concept which brings the library to you. A mobile library will be "popping up" in various places throughout Mahoning County over the next few months. For starters, The Pop-Up Library returns to 10 Federal Plaza and, for the first time, visits OH WOW! in December. You can check out books and movies, return items, ask questions, learn about library services and programs, or sign up for a library card with courteous, professional Library staff members. At  OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science and Technology on Dec. 7. there will also be a story time featuring snappy science stories. Fun for the whole family.

LIGHTING OF THE VILLAGE

Lighting of the Village @ the Poland Library - Stop by the Poland Library as you're taking part in the Lighting of the Village on Dec. 7. We will have Christmas crafts, songs and stories. Fun for the whole family. Holiday program. Kravitz Deli is celebrating with free hot chocolate and cookies for kids in the evening. Kravitz will also be making fire-roasted chestnuts and offering specials (dine-in or carryout) for $8.99 of spit-roasted chicken dinners all day.

Tales to Tails- Sign up to read to a registered therapy dog, which helps develop reading skills, promotes confidence, and encourages a love of reading. Readers of all levels and abilities are welcome. Bring a book of your choice. Dogs are provided by K-9 for Compassion, registered Delta society therapy dogs. Sign up is required. Rainbow Loom Bracelets (Grades 4 through Teen, Grades7-12) - Kids in grades 4 and up, register for our Rainbow Loom craft programs. Rainbow Loom bracelets are fun, unique, and great to give away as presents. Each session is limited to the first 12 tweens and teens who sign up. Beginners will be walked through the single pattern bracelet, but templates will be provided for loomers with more experience. Friends of Austintown Library Annual Holiday Luncheon and membership campaign - A wonderful seasonal program will be presented to get the Friends and guests into the Holiday Spirit.  A quartet from the Stephen Foster Chorus will perform holiday songs, led by Director John McCaughan. The meeting and luncheon will be at the Upstairs Restaurant (downstairs). Reservations are required and will be taken by the Friends officers. Seating is limited.

Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser - Join the Springfield Library Fundraising Committee for Breakfast with Santa at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Proceeds benefit the Springfield Branch Capital Campaign. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your camera!  There will be a raffle as well.  Event sponsors are  Lions Club, Assurance Land Title Inc. and Hitch-Hiker Manufacturing. Polar Express Book Fair at Barnes and Noble - Library volunteers will be on hand at Barnes and Noble all day, gift wrapping by Friends of East Library and the TeenXTreme Teen Advisory Board to raise funds. There will be a story time and craft in the evening. The Library will also benefit from a Book Fair at Barnes and Noble. Pick up a voucher at any PLYMC library and use it when you shop at Barnes and Noble on Dec. 6 and a portion of the proceeds will come back to the library. Thank you for supporting your library!
