Domesday Book: Britain's Finest Treasure  
The Domesday Book, commissioned in 1085, is the earliest surviving public record. This site, from the UK's National Archives, is a virtual exhibition of the book, and includes information on the history of the source, and portions of the actual book, as well as related resources

NationMaster provides more than 5700 statistics on each country in the world. It covers about 30 major categories such as agriculture, economy, religion, and sports. One also can search through over 7000 maps and many, many flags. To sum it all up, "NationMaster aims to be the Web's one-stop resource for country statistics on everything."
