Every day the Library hears comments like these:
"We love the library! We utilize children's books and videos, mysteries, biographies, nonfiction, recorded books, and attend programs...We are very thankful for the gracious librarians and staff who help us."

Another comment from an avid library patron:
"I've read to my children from infancy, every night. They are excellent readers, were in gifted programs through their public school years and scored in the 98% in several reading tests. One is a college grad and the other is in college. Reading paved the way.

Lifelong Youngstowners almost always have a favorite recollection of "the Downtown." Having lived on Youngstown's Eastside all during my childhood I recall taking the Albert Stree bus (with my parents and sister)on a jaunt that always included a stop at Fannie Farmer's to buy nuts and candy--a treat while we window shopped--then a stop at Livingston's to see the bubbles shooting up the escalator AND, on the way home, a stop at the Main Library--where we were allowed to check out a bag of books. For two little girls who walked to the small Braeden Branch every couple of days, Main Library was truly impressive! It still is.

Comment from a library patron: "I have Internet access and have noticed the increasing number of times I have to go online for something important... When I realized the free Internet service at the library, the thought came to me that I should discontinue my home high-speed Internet service and use it at the Library instead. I would probably save a lot of money in this tough economy."

I had the most wonderful service today by Nancy at the Poland Library's Rosetta Stone at Chapters. Nancy made me feel like a very valued customer as she employed an attitude that displayed genuine hospitality. Her service was especially appreciated as it was my first experience at the Poland Library. Although Nancy was attempting to close, her service was reminecent of the way great customers service used to be....

from NPR: Many people who watch a movie this weekend will simply open the Netflix envelope, but even more of you will head to the public library. A new survey shows that libraries are lending out 2.1 million DVDs a day -- compared to 2 million daily rentals for Netflix. Blockbuster comes in at 1.2 million
