The Golden Buckeye program connects Ohioans over the age of 60 or Ohio residents age 18-59 with disabilities with discounts from participating businesses all over the state! Businesses offer special discounts, waived fees, free products or services and more.
To sign up, visit any branch of The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC). Eligible residents should bring the required documentation to any Mahoning County library branch to fill out the paperwork.
Residents 60 or older: to verify your eligibility, please bring your Ohio Driver License or State of Ohio ID card.
Residents 18-59 with a disability as defined by Social Security: to verify your eligibility, please bring your Ohio Driver License or State of Ohio ID card and one of the following documents:
- A Medicare (not Medicaid) card in your name
- SSI or SSDI acceptance documentation; or
- A copy of a document certifying permanent and total disability issued by any state department, Ohio public employee retirement system (STRS, PERS, etc.), or any federal retirement system.
Some, but not all, participating businesses advertise the Golden Buckeye logo, so the best way to use your card is to ask. There is a comprehensive list of all Golden Buckeye businesses on the Ohio Department of Aging’s website, but follow this link to see all of the participating merchants in Mahoning County.
For more information, visit The Ohio Department of Aging's website or follow them on Facebook!
