Free Tax Prep for Qualifying Individuals

The Library is providing locations for free tax preparation and electronic filing through two programs: AARP Tax-Aide and Volunteers Income Tax Assistance (VITA). All sites are staffed by volunteers who have been trained and certified by the IRS.

Appointments required. Leave a message that includes your full name and phone number and your call will be returned within 72 hours.

What is VITA?

The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualifying individuals:

• People who generally make $56,000 or less
• Persons with disabilities
• Limited English-speaking taxpayers

In addition to VITA, the TCE program offers free tax help, particularly for those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.

What to Bring:

• Masks Optional
• Valid driver’s license or proof of identification
• Social Security cards and birth dates for you, spouse and/or dependents
• A copy of last year’s 2021 tax return
• IRS – ITIN (issued by IRS)
• Wage and earning statements (W2’s)
• Interest and dividend statements
• Total amount you paid for day care and the day care provider’s tax ID number
• Marketplace Health Insurance Form 1095-A if applicable
• Your spouse, if married and filing jointly, to sign the required forms
• Bank routing/account numbers for direct deposit
