YOUNGSTOWN—The Literary Society of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will host its annual Ladies in Little Black Dresses for Literacy fundraising event beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Rd., Poland. The event benefits the Library’s Carol A. Bacon Literary Society Fund and the Martha Muransky Children’s Literacy Fund. A portion of the proceeds from the participating boutiques will also benefit these funds. Sponsors include Suzanne’s, Ivory & Birch, Blush, and Dazzling Dezzine’s Boutique.
Tickets for the event are $50, which includes appetizers, summer fare, a glass of wine, cash bar and raffles. Musical entertainment will be provided by J & J Jazz. Attendees can bring a copy of a book by their favorite author to swap with other attendees. They can also donate gently used and brand-new children’s books. Attendees are encouraged to wear black, which was chosen to represent the written word.
