YOUNGSTOWN — The Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) voted to approve Mariel Sallee as the newest member of the Board on Thursday. Sallee was appointed to the seat left vacant by T. Sharon Woodberry who recently resigned from the Board when she moved out of state.
Sallee works for Education Advanced Inc., as an Account Executive for Cardonex Sales. A graduate of Youngstown State University and Kent State University, he has nearly 20 years of experience in K-12 education, serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, Director of 21st Century Learning and 6-12 Instruction and Director of School Improvement in the Austintown School District, Liberty School District, Ashtabula School District, Maple Heights School District, and Southeast School District in Ravenna. He serves on the board of Crossroads Church and Penn Ohio Athletic Club. Sallee lives in Austintown with his wife and four children.
“As a father, educator, and 25-year resident of the Valley, it’s an honor to serve as a member of the Library’s Board of Trustees,” said Sallee. “Our Library system has the potential to make an impact in every community of Mahoning County, and I’m excited to be a part of this transformative time for the Library.”
"Mariel’s incredible experience in many of our local school districts makes him an excellent choice for our Board. We’re thrilled to welcome him, and we look forward to working together on behalf of all of our patrons,” said Carole Weimer, President of the PLYMC Board of Trustees.
