After 50 years of serving the community, the Sebring Branch of The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) will undergo a much-needed facility refresh beginning the week of December 23rd. The scope of the renovation includes a complete overhaul of several key areas to enhance the overall experience for everyone who uses the branch. The updates will include:
- A new drop ceiling grid and tiles to improve the overall aesthetic, insulative properties, and lighting quality.
- Energy-efficient LED lighting to provide brighter, more sustainable illumination.
- New carpet and hard surface flooring throughout the space for a more modern, durable, and comfortable environment.
- Updated cabinetry at the circulation desk and staff areas to increase storage efficiency and functionality.
- A new rear exit door for improved safety and accessibility.
“This project is designed to create a more welcoming, functional, and modern space that better meets the needs of our community,” said PLYMC Chief Operating Officer, Jordan Shaver.
Erin Phemester, Chief Experience Officer, said, “’We would like to thank the City of Sebring for helping us minimize disruption to services by offering us the use of Fire Station #2 for temporary use during the renovation.” Phemester added, “The refreshed Sebring branch will offer a brighter inspiring environment perfect for readers, learners, creators, and doers alike.”
The branch will be closed briefly from December 22nd to January 13th as we transition to this new location. We plan to resume operations at Fire Station #2, located at 80 S 15th St, Sebring, OH 44672 starting January 13th, where we will continue to offer limited, express services with minimal disruption to our patrons. And we plan to reopen the refreshed Sebring Branch in March.
