The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) celebrates National Police K9 Day at our Springfield Branch on Thursday, August 22nd at 4:00 PM

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) celebrates National Police K9 Day at our Springfield Branch on Thursday, August 22nd at 4:00 PM. In recognition of National Police K9 Day that occurs on September 1, which is a day to honor police dogs and remember those who have fallen in the line of duty, come and meet Springfield’s local K9 officer, Officer Havoc and his handler, Officer Glenn Corey. We are honored to have both Officers Corey and Havoc come to the Springfield Library to educate us on their duties and responsibilities. Help us honor Havoc with a party to celebrate his work and hear a big announcement.
This program is open to the public for people of all ages to come and celebrate both our two-legged and four-legged law enforcement officers!
“The Public Library in Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) Springfield location has always been an important part of our community and has supported our K9 department by having this type of program. The whole purpose of the K9 program is to protect our community as well as our youth and since PLYMC is so big on youth programming, we felt this was the best opportunity and place to make a big announcement,” said Officer Corey.
Jennifer Hemphill, Springfield Library Supervisor, added, “All of our branches are a key part of the communities in which they serve and the families who come and enjoy what we have to offer. The Springfield branch has had a long relationship with local law enforcement and families in Springfield. We are very excited to offer this program to honor the important work of local law enforcement."
