As part of our ongoing commitment to childhood literacy, The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is excited to announce that we are now offering remote access to ABCmouse through our library website for home use for free if you have a library card! This includes unlimited access to the same full version of ABCmouse Early Learning Academy that we offer onsite in our library branches or that consumers subscribe to on their own for remote access. This adds up to big savings for parents and opportunities to educate their children at home.
"We are thrilled to offer one more way that parents and caregivers can support and develop their child's early learning at home,” said Erin Phemester, PLYMC Chief Experience Officer. “We know that ABC Mouse is very popular in our libraries, and we hope that community members will enjoy sharing this together at home. Combined with sharing books and attending our story time programs, ABC Mouse at home can be a very beneficial tool in the early literacy tool kit that parents and caregivers develop."
ABCmouse is a multi-award-winning platform that offers a comprehensive curriculum available for children ages 2-8 with over 10,000 learning activities, more than 1,200 of which are in Spanish. Subjects include math, science, reading, language arts, social studies, and music.
“We are focusing on literacy for both children and adults here at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, especially in the summer through our Summer Discovery Program,” said Aimee Fifarek, PLYMC Director and CEO. “Last year, we had around 6500 logins to ABCmouse from people visiting our libraries alone. One of the reasons we are offering ABCmouse for families at home is because we understand that offering quality programming to improve literacy can have a huge impact on families in Mahoning County,” added Fifarek.
